What I'm Really Into

Shamrock Shakes

God, I wish I had enough followers to sell out and do a big, shitty brand deal. The type that destroys your readership and makes everyone hate you, and in exchange you get, like, 50 bucks. Someday if I’m lucky I’ll sell out, until then I’m taking a principled stance and saying this blog is bought and paid for by nobody except me, and you should never take what I write here as any endorsement or brand deal.

That being said, I really love the Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s. It’s a limited-edition special they do for St. Patty’s, a mint-flavored milkshake. It always creeps up on me every year, and I forget it’s available until I see someone else drinking it and, racoon-like, I scurry to the store to get one ASAP. It’s no secret I’m a lover of all things mint, I’ve grown it in my gardens, brewed it in my tea and mint chocolate chip is my favorite flavor of ice cream. But wow, I’ve been drinking this slime-colored shake since I was a kid, maybe I’ll always drink them if we can keep up the edifice of society for the next few decades I’m alive (hopefully).

Whenever the season ends I feel sad about not being able to get them, but I think there’s something cool about not always being able to get the flavor. To me, it’s an early indicator that winter’s on the wane and spring will be here soon. It’s also a sign that St. Patrick’s is coming up, and while I may be of questionably-Irish descent, it won’t stop me from drinking plenty of Guinness here in a few weeks!
